Yeovil had easily the best of the first half, and after playing some great football could well have been more than 2-1 up. But as the rain lashed down, and the pitch deteriorated, Hayes coped with it much better, scoring three to take home the points.
Murray Fishlock made a welcome return to the side. With Kevan Brown serving his one match suspension, we had assumed that Rob Cousins would revert into the centre of defence, but Fishlock took up position on the left of the central three (alongside Chandler and Skiverton), with Jamie Pitman taking the left-back slot. Fishlock was to get his left-back spot back when Yeovil moved to four-at-the-back late on.
Yeovil started off brightly, Ben Smith being involved in everything, and Warren Patmore causing trouble in the Hayes area. Wazza had an effort deflected wide after being set up by a chested down free-kick, but the home side took the lead through defender Terry Skiverton. Ben Smith turned inside wide on the left to cross into the area, and Skiverton was surprisingly untroubled by three watching defenders as he nodded the ball home.
Hayes weren't looking up to much during the first period, though they did equalise through Jason Goodlifee after just over half-an-hour. A corner to the far post was bundled goalwards by the defender; Tony Pennock got in a block but the assistant referee decided that the ball had crossed the line, 1-1.
Yeovil continued to threaten, and got the second after a great move down the right. A one-two with Matt Hafield set Dave Piper away down the right, and Hayes keeper Matt Hodson allowed the cross to float over his head; Warren Patmore met it to knock it into an empty net for a 2-1 lead.

sorry, no photos this week!
The weather was far too gloomy to allow any worthwhile photography.

The second half was a different story. Yeovil never really got going, and as the pitch got wetter and softer, it didn't suit their style of play so well, and they failed to adapt. Hayes, never a team to worry about the surface to much (it's something to stand on while they're hoofing the ball skywards) has no such problems.
A stunning moment five minutes into the second period had bearly everyone on their feet. A ball into the edge of the Yeovil area found the excellent Steve McKimm, who's superb volley was surely goalwards. But having just used the words 'excellent' and 'superb', we need to find a bigger superlative for Tony Pennock's save. 'Fantastic' should do the trick.
Hayes were deservedly level soon after the hour mark. Tony Pennock perhaps came too far out to meet a cross, and his punch wasn't strong enough. The ball came straight back in to find Lee Charles at the far post. 2-2.
And the visitors were well on top by now, taking the lead soon after. Dean Chandler failed to get in a block that he should have made, and the ball fell to Barry Moore. His shot was tipped onto the bar by Tony Pennock, but Steve McKimm was on had to knock in the rebound.
And Hayes capped their win with a fourth as Mark Boyce's cross was hit goalward by McKimm, for Lee Flynn to tap home at the far post. Yeovil applied some pressure late on as Hayes sat back to defend. Rob Cousins went close with a 35-yard strike, and Ben Smith hit the woodwork.
One last scare for Yeovil was the loss of Terry Skiverton. He was stretchered off and taken to hospital. The last we heard was that it may not be as serious as first feared; he 'just' had a deep gash, and could be back before too long.
The defeat, the first since Steve Thompson took full charge of the team, sees Yeovil drop to 3rd in the Conference table.
