match report
by Colin Turner

Yeovil came out and started the afternoon where they left off Tuesday evening. Some very poor passing and unimaginative play did nothing to inspire the 2214 strong crowd, with only Cousins and Skiverton playing some positive football during the early stages.

After suffering from some heavy manhandling from Alty's Paul Ellender, Patmore finally got his head to one of the numerous long balls forward, and guided it out to Foster out on the right. A fantastic low drive across the Alty goal mouth found Patmore unmarked on the far post, who tapped it in the net with ease. 1-0 to Yeovil with 28 mins gone.

This seemed to lift the players and the crowd, and Yeovil finally appeared more comfortable on the ball, and started to create a bit of space in the midfield.

A close call 5 mins later though, when Alty had a rare excursion into the Yeovil penalty area, Langdon appeared unmarked in the six-yard box, but a poor first touch led to an embarrassing miss in front of the Yeovil terrace.

Yeovil easily controlled the rest of the first half, and with two minutes to go before the half-time whistle, Foster rounded the last two Alty defenders and then screwed the ball into the lower left hand corner of the net, past the outstretched hand of the Alty keeper. 2-0, 43 mins gone.

A much more positive start to the second half, with Norton and Stott easily taking charge in the centre of the field. Stott was unlucky early on, when his Zola style free kick went inches over the bar.

Yeovil continued to control the game and on 62 mins, Foster again broke through the Alty defence, this time his shot was parried down by the keeper, but Hayfield was there to pounce, 3-0 to Yeovil.

Foster continued to make a mockery of the Alty defence and Yeovil were unlucky on several occasions not to bag another couple of goals. With 10 minutes left, a Patmore header saw Alty's Paul Ellender palm the ball of the line, but Yeovil's pleas for a penalty were turned down by the ref, the only man on the pitch not to have seen anything.

The game drew to a close with little incident, a well deserved win for Yeovil, and another 3 points at home.
