The draw was probably a fair result, although perhaps Yeovil might have won it had Chris MacKenzie not made a superb save from Warren Patmore's first-half penalty. The home side edged the first half, although they didn't force as many saves out of Tony Pennock as they might have done. Yeovil played their best football in the second half, after substitutions saw Brown and Piper brought into the action.
Again Yeovil started with Dean Chandler instead of Kevan Brown, a situation that continues to puzzle us here as ytfc.com, and many others on the terraces too, it seems. Chandler, I feel, isn't good enough for this level, and certainly isn't fit enough at the moment. Murray Fishlock has been injured, and is not back to his best yet. Yeovil looked strongest when Brown replaced Chandler, and when Piper came on at right back, allowing Jamie Pitman to replace Fishlock on the left.
The first chance of the game fell to ex-Hednesford star striker Joe O'Connor. As happened a number of times in this game, the Nuneaton front men looked sharp enough to get into good positions, to get in front of their defender, and to get in an attempt, only to see it go wide. Tony Pennock wasn't forced into a save until 40 minutes had passed, when he came out to block with his feet from O'Connor. A few minutes later he made a fantastic point-blank save from Hanson.

To be fair, Yeovil weren't greatly troubling Chris MacKenzie in the other goal, though when Warren Patmore struck his penalty well (awarded for a foul on the same player), it looked goalbound until the keeper pulled off a superb save.
After the second half started with more of the same, Yeovil made a change and it paid dividends in no time. David Piper came on at right back, replacing Jamie Pitman who had been largely ineffectual. But Pitman moved over to left back (where he did much better), as Murray Fishlock left the field. From this point on, the wing-play was much better, and Yeovil were able to attack with more conviction. Just a few minutes after his arrival, Piper threaded a neat ball through to Adrian Foster, who laid it off for David Norton to strike home well from 15 yards out.
But the lead was short-lived. Tony Pennock came out to punch clear, missed the ball, and it fell to Hanson who made no mistake. It was almost a carbon copy move a few minutes later that should have given Nuneaton the lead, but the chance was squandered.
Yeovil applied more pressure after about the 70 minute mark, and although there were a few efforts on target, none greatly troubled MacKenzie, to leave a fair 1-1 result.
