End of season awards 1999/2000
Controversy surrounded this afternoon's presentations.
Firstly, the Western Gazette fiddled their figures. This was confirmed by a writer at the paper, who told me that Kevan Brown came third in their competition. Even though he was at the ground, he was snubbed by the Gazette. Kevan is now a Woking player, of course. The good news is that Jamie Pitman was thus promoted into the top three, he should have won it in my opinion!
Secondly, although the Green & White Supporters Club presented their trophy, the Yeovil Town Independent Supporters Associaton was not allowed to. I quizzed Chairman John Fry about this after the presentations were complete, asking him why there wasn't time for the YTISA award. He replied that the presentation had "a strict agenda", and when I asked why room couldn't be made, he said that the Green & Whites presented theirs, and that "there's no room for an unofficial view".
The YTISA have plans in place for an alternative presentation, but I think I've only been told in confidence, so can't pass it on yet. I'll let you all know as soon as possible.
