My physio tells me that the progress I am making is excellent and Doc Holloway who performed the op. couldn't believe how quickly things progressed post op.
All this good news is slightly worrying as there is a feeling things are going too well and I am being constantly told to take things steadily, one step at a time. I can tell you though that it is so difficult to hold yourself back when you are desparate to get back playing again. I feel as though I could start running on it now, but at the moment I have a daily set of leg strengthening exercises I am allowed to do with a bit of swimming and cycling on alternate days.
My next appointment with Doc Holloway is on the 3rd February and I am hoping that he is going to give me the go ahead to start some running and light training. My knee already feels better than when I was playing before the op., so I hope to be stronger and fitter when I get back playing for the reserves, hopefully if things keep improving the way they are, sometime towards the end of February.
I am disappointed that YTFC have not offered me a contract for next season. I suppose I feel a little let down after turning down approaches from four different clubs this season. Having said that I can see it from YTFC's point of view, why give a new contract to a 35 year old with a knee injury. Doesn't make financial sense does it?
Contracts, however, are not my main concern right now, my main goal is to get back to fitness and to get back playing to the best I can. Maybe this will even help to spur me on that little bit extra!
