Lecco is on the shores of the lake of the same name in the north of the country.
The side was actually formed as a rowing club in 1895, football starting twenty years later. The football side of the club wasn't formally organised, however, until the 1940s. They entered the Italian League system in the mid-1950s, and progressed straight through to the top level. Once later Serie A was reached, but on each occasion they were relegated after just one season.
