yeovil in europe - the anglo-italian competition 1977
A runners-up spot in the Southern League in 1975/76 kept Yeovil in the chase for election to the football league, though winners Wimbledon were clearly ahead (and were to get the nod at the end of 1976/77).
And there was one more bonus: entry into the Anglo-Italian competition for 1976/77!
Page update 14/1/2000: Thanks to Chris from the Bath City list, we now have the last few results, so have completed the results page and league tables.

Gigi Peronace had been the official representative of the Italian FA in Britain, and he made London his home in 1972. He had been instrumental in the transfer of Denis Law, John Charles, and others from Britain to Italy.
To further links between the Italian and English FAs, he organised an Anglo-Italian competition for pro clubs for four years in the early to mid 70s. And then formed a similar competition for semi-pro clubs, the Inter-League Semi-Professional Tournament, or Torneo Interleghe Semiprofessionisti.
The English teams came from the Southern League and Northern Premier League, the Italians from the regional Serie C.
The inaugural competition was in 1975/76, in which Wimbledon were beaten finalists, going down 1-0 to Monza in Italy.
