It seems bizarre to be sitting here in my office (close to Seattle), thinking about my childhood memories of Yeovil Town, Huish and of course, the slope!
Anyway, my favourite game was in 1957-58 or so, and it was the last game of the season against Hastings Utd. (Colours like Villa or West Ham). Yeovil had to draw to win the Southern League Championship. The ground was packed, the atmosphere electric.Hastings played very well, and were leading 2-1, late in the second half, when Yeovil equalized, and hung on to trigger a great celebration.
Some names of players from those days (I can hear my brain squeaking under the strain!) Nagy(centre-half), Mackay(left wing), Reid(inside-left), Topping(left-half), Dominy(back?). Can anyone remember the others? What nice memories.
